Holography, means of producing an exclusive photographic image without the use of a lens. The photographic recording of the image is called a hologram, which seems to be an unrecognizable design of hoops and swirls but which—when well-lit by coherent light, as by a laser beam—systematizes the light into a three-dimensional depiction of the original entity.
A normal photographic image records the variations in intensity of light reflected from an object, creating dark areas where less light is reproduced and light areas where more light is reflected
